Frequently asked questions
We carefully observe our puppies from birth, getting to know each personality as it develops. All of our puppies undergo temperament testing, allowing us to provide insight into what each puppy may excel at, and which home environment may be the best fit. The test evaluates behavioral and personality traits such as shyness, independence, assertiveness, friendliness, retrieving drive, and overall temperament. Each puppy receives a score, which we share with you to help determine the best match for your home.
While temperament testing doesn't guarantee exactly how a puppy will develop, it offers a helpful indication of future tendencies. A puppy's environment, training, and socialization through adulthood also play a significant role in shaping their temperament.
Yes, we genetically test all of our breeding dogs unless they are already known to be clear by parentage. We use a comprehensive 24-panel, breed-specific DNA test that is state-of-the-art and highly reliable for identifying common genetic traits and disorders. These tests help determine the likelihood of passing traits on to offspring. We do not include any dog in our breeding program that is affected by genetic conditions that could become a health concern.
In addition to genetic testing, all of our breeding dogs undergo OFA evaluations for hips, elbows, and eyes. These screenings help assess joint structure and overall soundness, as well as detect potential hereditary eye conditions. By combining genetic DNA testing with OFA health clearances, we strive to produce healthy, well-structured puppies and give our families confidence in the long-term well-being of their new companion.
This is a question we receive often, and honestly, we appreciate it - it shows how much you care about the well-being of dogs, just like we do. The health and happiness of our girls always come first. We never begin breeding until a female is at least two years of age, sometimes never if we feel pregnancy simply isn't the right fit for her.
Every momma is different, so the number of litters varies based on several factors, including litter size and how she handles pregnancy and motherhood. We carefully watch each girl and make decisions individually, always putting her comfort, health, and quality of life above everything else. Some females may only have two or three litters in their lifetime, while others may have more - but every decision is made with love, responsibility, and respect for our dogs.
While we don't allow families to officially reserve a specific litter ahead of time, this is simply because we don't know in advance how many puppies each litter will have or how many males versus females will be born. However, you are always welcome to share which litters you are most interested in, or which males and females you particularly admire - and we absolutely take those preferences into consideration when planning placements. We truly do our best to match you with your preferred litter or a close second whenever possible.
Once puppies arrive and we begin the placement process, we will contact you when your name comes up on our waitlist. At that time, we'll walk through all your available options together. You'll be informed of your placement (for example, third pick of males in a particular litter) and we'll discuss each litter in detail, including general traits, temperaments, and what we're seeing so far. From there, you ultimately get to choose which litter you would like your puppy from based on the options available to you at that time.
When the puppies reach approximately six weeks of age, you will then select your individual puppy from the litter you've chosen. By this point, we have a good understanding of each puppy's developing personality, and we're happy to offer guidance to help you choose the puppy that best fits your home and lifestyle.
Our goal is always to make thoughtful, well-informed matches that benefit both our puppies and their future families, and we're here to guide you through every step of the process.
Yes - this is part of our contract and is required for the health and well-being of your dog. We are extremely strict about this policy because we have done extensive research, and studies show that if you are not going to breed your dog (which you cannot, as we retain all breeding rights), spaying or neutering provides significant health benefits that far outweigh the risks.
That said, current research also indicates that when you spay or neuter is often more important than if. For this reason, we require waiting until your puppy is physically mature before spaying or neutering. All of this is clearly defined in our contract, which we review together at the time of pickup.
You have two options for transporting your puppy. The first option is a flight nany, who travels in-cabin and personally meets you at the airport with your puppy. The second option is ground transport, where your puppy is safely driven directly to your home. Pricing for each option depends on your location, as well as airline fees at the time of travel.
We handle coordinating all travel arrangements for you - all we need from you is your preferred time and location. Our goal is to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible. You're always welcome to reach out, and we'll be happy to provide a personalized travel quote.
While we prefer that you make arrangements to pick up your puppy on their go-home date, we understand that this is not always possible. For that reason, we allow up to 7 days for pickup at no additional charge. If you are unable to pick up your puppy within that timeframe, a boarding fee will unfortunately need to be applied. This is simply because we often do not have the extra space available, and keeping your puppy longer creates additional expenses to continue providing the proper care they need.
Absolutely - we actually prefer that you do! Just contact us to set up a day and time to come meet us, tour our facility, and meet our dogs. You're welcome to bring the whole family; we just ask that you leave your furry family members at home.
